It had been several years since I'd sprouted wheatgrass at home, so I thought a kit would be an easy way to get back into the swing of things. I'm glad I went ahead with the purchase, but not because the product is good. The instructions on the card were different from the method I had used in the past (and it was strongly contradicted at multiple points by the contents of the book that came with the kit, which I thought was odd) but I gave it a try for my first tray... and lost that batch. Go ahead and ignore the instruction card. It was nice to start with everything arriving together; it helped commit me to the project. For the long term, though, the kit really isn't necessary.

This is my first time trying to grow anything on purpose. I was buying my wheatgrass from a smoothie shop for $2.99 an oz. so I thought I should try growing my own. The instructions included in this were easy to follow and I was able to grow 5 trays of wheatgrass that each yielded 12.5 - 13 oz of juice each. I would recommend this bundle for someone who's trying to grow wheatgrass for the first time.

I was so disappointed when this arrived. I felt like I was really taken advantage of. The trays are cheap. I can get better trays are from a garden supply. I use my own compost. no need for that bag of "stuff". I could have gotten seeds for under $10. Why did i pay $40? Beats me. Must have been the heat. I was looking for quick, easy wheat grass growing. I should have taken the time and figured it out before I invested in this "kit". It is so unnecessary. Get some seeds.. soak and spread them out on soil, keep damp with a paper towel and let them grow.

The perfect starter kit. I read the book, the cheat sheet, not a single problem yet! I did turn the air conditioning down to 75 and put a fan in the room. A couple of full-spectrum lights and I had my first batch in no time!

The seeds in this kit are of excellent quality. I followed the directions and the wheatgrass grew right on schedule. I only wish the trays were a little smaller (I have a tiny living space.) I look forward to trying other sprouting products from this company.

Just harvested a lush crop. I decided to cut it leaving about 1 1/2" and let it regrow. It's coming back so far and looking very green and strong. I did have to follow instructions and mix up a few cups of solution made with the provided Azomite in the first few days to cut a suspicious white film over the soil that I presume was mold. Didn't see how that could do anything but I sprinkled it over the surface and it was gone. I used half of the 2 cup bag for one tray instead of the whole bag as instructed and it really made for a dense crop in one tray. I don't see how the full two cups would have room to grow. My wife and I juiced half the crop this morning in our Champion to mix in our protein shakes. So 1/4 cup of wheat berries yielded about 4 oz. of juice. Of course, I let it grow to about 9 inches and the second round may not yield as much. We'll see.

I grew and harvested my first tray of wheatgrass with this. I had a friend that tried growing wheatgrass from some seeds she picked up at a local store and the difference was amazing. The grass my kit produced was tall, lush and dark green. Quite the opposite for her generic grass. The taste of the wheatgrass when juiced was really sweet (odd, if you have never tasted it before). I am on my second tray now and am working to get the timing of growing and juicing synced so I don't have a gap between trays. The chart that comes with this kit is truly beneficial as a quick reference the first time you are growing wheatgrass. The nutritional benefits of wheatgrass are amazing. If you are looking for a way to get started -- definitely try this kit. I was very proud of my first attempt at urban farming . :)
