This juicer definitely produces the best juice. Put cool veggies and fruit in from the frig and get cool juice out - and the quality is outstanding. We have been juicing now for a month and we feel so much better. Because of the energy I get from the juice in the mornings - I was actually able to quick drinking coffee! While one of the other reviewers was correct in that this juicer does take up some counter space - the parts are definitely not made cheaply - at least on our model (the Green Star 2000). After all the junk that is being made these days - this machine is made of quality parts - and is actually a little bit heavy (but it has a nice handle). We love our machine. We love having the best possible product coming out of our machine. The only drawback - and it is a slight one - it that the machine does take a few minutes to clean - and should be cleaned immediately after use. The parts are good quality - strong and durable - but not for use in a dishwasher (according to the manual).

This is my first juicer, so I have no other brand or model to compare it to. The manufacturer claims that you can juice wheatgrass with this–that is absolutely not true. Actually, what you will get is a lot of foam. For the work, not getting any juice out of your wheatgrass and then cleaning this juicer, it would be easier just to drive to a juice bar.

This juicer does juice things like carrots, greens, and celery. It seems the tougher the vegetable, the better it performs. With cucumbers it does just okay. You may need a carrot to help you with getting those cucumbers through.

I attempted to make almond butter with this, and the result looked like breadcrumbs no matter how many times I ran it through the machine.

Cleaning is a pain because certain parts are easy–clean with just a rinse, but others require a thorough scrubbing. The juicer does include a brush, but that is expensive if you need to replace it. By the way, the machine is heavy–it weighs about 30 pounds. Be aware.

I don't mean to be completely negative, but this is my first experience with a juicer.

I love this machine. I use it to make lots of different juice drinks. It isn't fun to clean, but if you take care of that immediately, and make it part of the process, and only takes about 10 min. This juicer does not heat the juice all, which keeps the enzymes intact, which I especially like. I use this to make large batches of green lemonade a couple of times a week. I have used the leftover pulp in other recipes, and the rest maintains my compost heap.

This is a wonderfully made machine. However it is difficult together and it is a real chore to clean. It takes me 20 min. just because of that I wish I had purchased the VitaMix instead.

I bought this machine as an upgrade to my champion juicer that finally gave out. Or at least I thought it was an upgrade. The design of this juicer is terrible. It takes 3 times longer than the Champion to clean. The Green Star has a screen with 16 corners, which is the crux of how annoying it is to clean. So unfortunately, I barely use this.

I use my juicer about every 3 days, to keep me supplied with fresh juice. The Green Star runs quietly and it isn't that difficult to clean. I keep it by my sink the filter does need a good scrubbing with a brush. If you tilt it forward just a little, he can take care of a good portion of the cleaning process with a gentle spray. I use this machine primarily for carrots, celery, Swiss chard, kale, and a few apples.

This juicer is very efficient. I do occasionally have to clean the juicer out in mid-process, but it is fairly easy to clean.

A lot of reviewers complain that this machine is difficult to clean, but I've owned several juicers over the years, and this one is no more difficult than any of the others, and this one is actually a better quality juicer than any of the others I've owned. A healthy lifestyle takes effort.

Note: softer produce is easier to juice if you use the software to use attachment.

It's nice to own a juicer that's quiet enough to let me carry on a conversation while I use it. The pulp is very dry, and there is very little foam. Used properly, you'll not need separate machines to juice different vegetables. Fresh ginger is as easy to process as carrots. I love my Green Star.

I've been juicing since the early 1990s and more recently, as a certified raw foods associate chef, I have been preparing a wider range of juicer recipes including patés and ice cream from frozen bananas. I have experience with Green Star, Champion, Juiceman, and several other juicers. If you are going to be juicing a lot of greens such as kale and parsley, the Green Star will give you a better and more nutritious yield than any juicer on the market. It exceeds masticating juicers such as the Champion in this regard, as well as centrifugal juicers such as the Juiceman. A huge benefit of Green Star is that it juices wheat grass, so you will not need a dedicated wheat grass juicer. It's also amazingly quiet, far quieter (and a bit slower) than my Champion. With a slower speed, the juice does not heat up as much as with a Champion and oxidizes slower. There are far more parts to assemble, disassemble, and clean than with a Champion.

In deciding whether to purchase a Green Star juicer, consider whether you are going to be juicing a lot of greens and/or wheatgrass, and whether you're really going to take the time to disassemble, clean, and assemble about a dozen parts each time you use it. If you're not put off by that, then I highly recommend the Green Star. If you are mostly considering a juicer for carrot juice, fruit juices, banana ice cream, etc, then I would steer you towards the Champion. If you want to use a juicer for all of the above and can afford and have the space for both, then I enthusiastically recommend both.

Note that there are 3 models of Green Star juicers, of which the GS1000 is their most basic model. The GreenStar.com website explains the various accessories that come with or can be purchased with each.

The Green Star has a "close-case-crush-press" system, which crushes your food between two counter-rotating steel gears. You're left with juice that zings, and hasn't been oxidized.

It does all right with flaccid, stringy, leafy foods like parsley and cilantro. But if there's any firmness to them--anything from cucumbers to celery to lemons--the juicer needs those chopped up. So before using the juicer I do a lot of prep.

The clean-up is manageable. There are about seven parts that disassemble easily. You don't need to reach into the crevices in the main unit. All the parts clean easily except one small screen, which needs some serious scrubbing. The brush supplied with the juicer helps.

I'm sure there are faster models out there. But I'm health-conscious too, and the twin gear system seems to leave a small "oxygen footprint."
