a new dehydrator for our collection Review by Maureen
Rating
This is the third dehydrator we have added to our kitchen. I like that the trays are small enough to wash in the sink. We've dried potatoes, and lemons from our backyard. We will be raising bread in it next.

I wish someone had researched ... Review by Leigh

I got an Excalibur a few weeks ago as a birthday present. It works, and the food that comes out of it tastes great, but it's too big for my kitchen. For anywhere in my apartment. Otherwise, I do love it, but I'll have to use it at a friend's house!

Delicious! Review by Keely
Rating
I'm eating better-for-me snacks! In my first experiments my onions and tomatoes came out absolutely perfect! I tried green bean strings, peas, lemons, apples, bananas, chicken, beef slices and more. My favorite was the flat leaf spinach, dried to crisp, after I had dipped them in salted and herbed water. It was (almost) as good as potato chips, but much healthier!

Go square Review by Maisie
Rating
I've been dehydrating for years and have used many different models -- round, open, square. Square models with the fan in the back is the way to go -- no question. This is a good machine although for the money, I've also used the Sahara Dehydrator and it seems to be every bit as good if not better.

Good product Review by Pamela

I loaded up the unit with raw peeled almonds as soon as it left the box. They took up the top three trays.

In the other six trays were apples and pears. I ran them through a peeler, corer, slicer (worked great) and spread them on the tray. I let everything dry for 8-9 hours. They all came out perfectly dry and came off the trays with no sticking
.
The unit is fairly small, and looks attractive. I don't think we'll leave it in the kitchen, (the fan is a bit loud).

This was a great value and it will be a well used addition to our kitchen.

Excalibur 9-Tray Dehydrator Review by Celia
Rating
The motor is loud, but powerful. It gets the job done, and you can dry large amounts of food at a time . I'd say this is good enough for professional use. I'd go with the 9 tray. You'll dry more food than you intiially think.

PROS:
Powerful
Easy to use
Built for daily use
Heavy-duty construction
Large food capacity
Small holes in screens for easy drying and removal
Cleans easily

CONS:
Loud
Bulky
Flat screens allow food to easily fall off

It's not perfect. but I'm glad I was able to buy this machine. It's better than the round dehydrator I tried first.

pays for itself Review by Hazel

I've used this for a week straight, getting a bunch of things dehydrated (potatoes, onions, peppers, scrambled/powder eggs for camping, and a lot of deer/beef jerky). I've used it mostly for perishable items (produce) that I would have had to throw out if I hadn't preserved them. I used to buy dehydrated herbs, and now I make my own at a fraction of the cost. Great machine.

this dehydrator is the best ...you don't have to move the food around so it will dry. it makes the best beef jerky in 5 hours, it dries fruit & veggies evenly.

Reliable for me Review by Raquel

I've been using this model for 3 years and it has worked perfectly. For those with complaints about the fan, I believe you just happened to get a bad one. Make sure you get the paraflexx sheets when you buy. They should be included, but oh well.

Chanda Review by Works nicely, but it's rather noisy
Rating
Dries fruit & berries in about a day. The mesh trays seem to give up stuck-on dried parts with a some soap, water, and a dish brush. Unit itself seems well made and it worked straight out of the box. It is louder than our fridge, however. I have to remove a star for the noise.
