I do like this juicer, but the filter does take a good while to clean.

I made a quart a juice each day for four days and on the fifth day (after my produce was cleaned and ready to go) I turned it on it made a very loud grinding noise. I disassembled the unit, reassembled it and tried again - same loud grinding. I did this five times to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. I called Tribest and got a customer service rep who had no sympathy.

My wife and I have been routinely making about 2 gallons of vegetable juice per week for the last 6 years (we made other things such as almond butter, coconut cream etc etc). We have used the Le'Equip model for the first several months and then switching to Green Star Gold when learning of the nutrition benefits. We were happy with the Gold model until about a year ago, a friend of ours was inspired to start juicing, intrigued by the new Elite model claims we sold him our Gold model and forked out the cash for the new version.
After using the Elite model for the past 9 months, I have been disappointed enough to write my first negative review. The Elite routinely shuts down when running vegetables or coconuts through, we taped a wad of paper on the safety cut out so it would continue to work. The pulp is often much wetter than the Gold model, which is hard to understand because the Elite advertises how you get so much more juice. Thats not all, the juicing knob has been redesigned to be weeker, as they swapped out metal parts for plastic ones, and we have replaced that twice so far due to it cracking and leaving us stranded with piles of vegetables waiting to be juiced. And last but certainly not least, they claim it is so much easier to clean, and that is bull, I spent way too long cleaning up the juicer after making almond butter, normally a 10 minute job with the Gold model suddenly a 25 minute job with the annoying safety clamps dangling and getting in the way.
Please read this carefully, and I would advise everyone to save their precious pennies and buy the more durable Green Star Gold model, you will be so much happier!

i like using the wooden plunger because it is gives me a lot more sensitivity when feeding things into the feeding chute.
it seems that the gs-elite makes carrot juicing a bit easier than with the gs-1000.
The clean up is very easy for me and i like the "snap open and close" new style latching arms of the gs-elite.
Most of the parts rinse off easily after a short period of soaking in the sink and i use my sink sprayer to 'squirt right on to' and clean the back part of the juicer body where everything attaches. also i can wash the cover easily in my dishwasher if needed and it comes out nice and clean.
One thing i personally enjoy about the gs-elite is that the feeding chute cover- assembly can be turned upside down and placed on a small towel after being washed so that it functions as a basket to hold the other juicer parts as they are drip drying after being washed in the sink. when i go to use my juicer again they are waiting for me nicely dried and ready to assemble.

Anyway, we love it. We estimate we're getting twice as much juice per-veggie than we did with the centrifugal juicer. We juice at least 4 times per week (for 3 people) so we're thinking the price difference will easily be paid in a year just from the savings on produce.
It's also easier to clean than our old one. The hardest part to clean is the mesh screen. It has some tight corners that the pulp gets jammed into, but after cleaning it a couple times it gets much faster. The rest of the parts are easy.
