My mom used one of these with all 3 of her children (Im the oldest - 24). She still has it and all of my cousins have used it with their kids - and now its back at my moms house waiting for me to have kids.

Because it isn't electric it is portable.... In addition to previous comment... my mom used to grind a small portion of her own meal for my brother - which would aid in saving money when we dined out and on occasion when we camped.... no power required to supply my 6 month old brother with what he needed. Seriously I love the concept for this product and the electronic version of it didn't get 100% awesome reviews....

My mom used this product with my brother 23 years ago.... I'm sure it's been updated a bit. I remember it being easy enough for me to use at the time I was 11 years old. It was for meat and veggies.... meat required a bit more pressure to grind. It is a manual activity and needs a flat surface to press the bottom - but you can prepare your childs meal in a minute or 2 and then easily clean the 3 pieces. I do recommend immediately rinsing the grinder piece (metal circle) as you will go through many toothpicks picking out the food if the food is left to harden. I wish I had known how to get a hold of this product when I had my son 4 years ago..... if I ever have another baby I will get one to use with him/her as it will save tons on baby food. I really like the idea of having the baby eat what the rest of us are having.... one word of warning though limit seasonings of the food or separate food before seasoning. It was not uncommon for my mother to season all the meat except for a small piece for my brother to prevent allergic reactions or indigestion - this was also the case with vegetables and anything else that was ground up in the grinder.
