Masticating wheatgrass juicers use a two-step process in juicing. "Masticating" literally means breaking down fibers in the fruit or vegetable by crushing. The second step is bringing the masticated fibers to a small 'squeezing' area at the tip which literally presses the pulp to extract the juice. These juicers provide the most nutrients in juice because of the low rotation speed at which the auger turns (unlike a high force
centrifugal juicer). They are much quieter and you can keep the juice longer because of reduced oxidation. The other benefit is that
masticating juicers are the only type of juicers that can
juice wheatgrass.
