Grow UFO Indoor LED Growing Lights
- Product Review (submitted on December 20, 2011):
Yes, it works, but that's where it stops. I purchased what I thought would be my first of perhaps 4 or 5 LEDs so that I could eventually bring some of my garden, namely tomatoes, indoors.
The plants have grown, though at a far slower rate than I had been led to believe. Manufacturers continue to use 'lumens' as their comparison of HPS/MH, florescent, LED, etc. lights and you simply cannot. At most, the 90 watt LED is equivalent to a 250 - 300 w metal halide. What that tells me is that the only real advantage is the lack of heat output by the LEDs, but the effective growth is so much greater when not using LEDs that I would say that LEDs are a full generation behind where they need to be.
