Green-Star Juicer - Twin Gear MultiPurpose (Models GS1000, GS2000 and GS3000)
- Product Review (submitted on July 16, 2013):
I've had my Green Star for about 6 years now. I know I get great quality juice from it and it does handle greens VERY well. Sometimes it does get a little backed-up when I'm using apples that are a little soft, but then I just follow with a leaf of kale or another carrot - seems to clean it right out, I think of it kind of like a brush. I have just experimented with putting fruits and veggies through in different sequences to see which order makes the most efficient use of the produce.
i would say it's a pain in the butt to clean, but it is far better than my old centrifugal juicer that had a ridiculous amount of nooks and crannies to clean. I would also say that knowing that the juice is of such good quality makes it worth it.
I DO wish it dealt with wheat grass better. Other people have mentioned the foam factor. I tackle this by putting carrot pieces through, alternating with wheat grass. This doesn't help if you'd prefer straight wheat grass, but it is a decent compromise for me.
I have made yummy berry sorbet, which my kids LOVE, and I hope to soon experiment with making nut butter. I have read that some people put it through a couple of times because the first run-through ends up dry and crumbly.
