Summer Dinner Party Recipe Roundup

Summer Dinner Party Recipe Roundup

Have you resolved to throw your summer dinner party yet? Worried about what to make?

Here are four perfect dinner ideas, from drinks to main course to desserts, that a) both sound and taste delicious, b) aren’t difficult to make, and c) pair up amazingly with each other. Use them as inspiration, or copy the menu verbatim–and there’s no need to tell your guests you didn’t come up with the whole thing by yourself.

1. A Southwestern-inspired summer dinner. Full of punchy flavors and unexpected twists, like grapefruit juice in margaritas, and horchata (a traditional Mexican drink made with rice) in pudding form.

To drink:
grapefruit margaritas

To eat:
guacamole + chips,
Cilantro Salad and Charred Corn Tacos with Zucchini-Radish Slaw

For dessert:
Horchata Rice Pudding

2. An incredibly easy, vaguely Italian-inspired dinner party. This menu will make the most of summer favorites like basil and tomato, and will please even the pickiest palates. The main course may be the simplest, most delicious pasta you’ll ever make–a tangle of spaghetti topped with cheese and black pepper–and the side dishes have all the vegetables you’ll need.

To drink:
Basil Prosecco and Limoncello

To eat:
Smashed Avocado + Tomato Basil Bruschetta,
Heirloom Tomato Salad
and
spaghetti con cacio e pepe (spaghetti with cheese and black pepper)

For dessert:
vanilla ice cream drizzled with homemade rhubarb syrup

3. Americana all around. Three types of pizza, a classic southern drink, and a dessert that only a grinch wouldn’t love.

To drink:
mint juleps!

To eat:
Leek, Chard, and Corn Flatbread
Pizza with Bacon, Onions, and Cream
Grilled Pizza with Yellow Squash, Mozzarella, and Thyme

For dessert:
Salted Caramel Brownies

4. A fancier dinner. Because sometimes, you just wanna impress people. An easy cocktail and a quick (but striking) appetizer flatbread make this meal easier than it looks.

To drink:
Honey-Bourbon Lemonade

To eat:
flatbreads with honey, thyme, and sea salt,
Chilled Pea Soup with Mango-Radish Relish
Coconut Corn Salad
and
Zucchini and Ricotta Galette

For dessert:
Glissade Chocolate Pudding
