To Juice Or Not To Juice..That Is The Question..

0 by / on December 5, 2008, 5:46 pm

Oh, who am I kidding.  There’s only one answer here.  JUICE!!! Ghandi said, “Chew your drink and drink your food.”  What does that mean?  Very simple, take the time to liquefy your food before swallowing, and swish your drink around before swallowing.  Liquid is the way to go for assimilation and elimination. The only question I ask myself in the morning is this… “Should I use my Champion juicer or my Vitamix today?”  Or use my own teeth!  I first started seriously juicing over two years ago.  When I went “raw” and bought my Champion, I juiced anything I could [...]

No Thanks. I’d Rather Juice My Wheatgrass!

3 by / on November 17, 2008, 6:49 pm

This is my story on my journey into wheatgrass juicing! If you’ve never heard of wheatgrass juice, you’re not alone.  There are a few entries here about it and one from my brother Michael! Don’t underestimate the healing properties of wheatgrass and wheatgrass juice.  Growing wheatgrass in my apartment and drinking wheatgrass juice may have saved my life when carbon monoxide leaked inside due to an improperly installed gas heater.   Drinking wheatgrass for maintenance also helped me expel a chemical that I’d been using for way too many years  AND a poultice I made from the pulp of wheatgrass cured [...]

Preventing Memory Loss – “Now What Was the Title of This Article Again?”

0 by / on November 4, 2008, 2:19 pm

I’m not sure… but whether it’s a creative block or the early onset of Alzheimer’s is pretty clear; at least to me it is. Now what was I talking about? Oh, eating healthy and keeping the brain sharp as a tack. Now the brain is no mere mechanical organ, nor is it simply a storage unit for the countless memories of a lifetime. It is the combination of these things and it also contains an enormous capacity for perception, empathy, reasoning, analyses and so much more. In some ways it could be said that “you” reside there. And without going [...]

Beginners Health – Positive Foods “Well I’ll Be, 8 Is Enough!”

3 by / on October 19, 2008, 8:46 am

Now I know this blog is for health nuts but I got to thinking (which can be dangerous)… What if, somehow, however inconceivably, someone found their way onto this blog whose interest in healthy living was marginal. I know, I know. It’s a kooky thought but this person could be you, reading right now. Maybe you find the writing humorous but aren’t really ready to go all out. Maybe having to keep track of the difference between a centrifugal and a masticating juicer and the benefits and reasoning behind each is a bit arduous. Maybe you don’t care all that [...]

“The Hives: Great Band… Terrible Skin Condition”

0 by / on October 5, 2008, 8:12 am

Really one of the best live shows ever.  I saw them once in Manhattan and was so wiped out I didn’t get out of bed the whole next day.  That’s pretty much what I wanted to do after the fires last week but I couldn’t stop scratching.  I’m not sure if it was all the stress or an allergy to something or a combination of many things but I found myself with hives… (the skin irritation that is, although they sound like fun guys to hang out with)  Some people get this frequently when they’re stressed or exposed to an [...]

The juicing craze! After all of the hype and strict regimens of the raw and juiced diet fads, the whole idea may leave a bad taste in your mouth. But you do not have to learn how to cover up the taste of juiced beets or start watching infomercials with Jack LaLanne reving up his “Juice Tiger.” There is an easy, and yes, tasty way to drink your vitamins and boost your intake of the good stuff. For starters, you may be wondering why juiced foods are so fantastic to begin with. Simply put, it’s because they are living, unprocessed [...]

The JuicyJosh Morning Smoothie – “Shaky shake… Shakey!”

0 by / on September 17, 2008, 8:59 pm

(Name the song and artist that the title quote is from and get $5 off any purchase at 877MyJuicer.com.) So most people would call it a smoothie nowadays but to me it is, always has been and always will be my power shake.  And I start my day with it religiously.  I’ll get into the ingredients in a bit but an explanation of my intentions first. Being that for the last two weeks I’ve written some basic articles on juicing, I wanted to write one on the differences and benefits of blending specifically.  The problem is many of the same [...]
