Juicing Fixes: The Hangover CureGreen juice: it’s good for what ails ya. While we would never profess to be doctors (and please, consult your doctor if you need serious medical attention), we know that what you put in your body is a huge factor when it comes to overall wellness. We also know that sometimes you shouldn’t do that last tequila shot, no matter how thrilling it is to see your old college buddies at your new neighborhood haunt.

If you went ahead and did that last tequila shot anyway, this juice is here to help. Think of it as a kind of a virgin Bloody Mary, with tomatoes, beets, and lots of spice to counteract the nausea. Tomatoes are incredibly rich in the nutrients and enzymes that your poor body is currently depleted of, and they contain fructose, which helps to metabolize the alcohol. Beets are known for helping out your liver, and we both know your liver could use a little help right about now. We finish it off with a drizzle of honey, which is another natural hangover remedy. Kick your pounding head to the curb, show your light-sensitive eyes who’s boss, and stop using terrible metaphors–let’s juice!

Spicy Tomato-Beet Juice

1 medium beet, golden or red
2 large tomatoes
2-3 carrots
1 generous knob fresh ginger root, peeled
1 lemon
1 cucumber and/or 3 stalks celery (some mild flavor to balance out the rest of the  juice)
Cayenne pepper and honey to taste

Use the carrots and celery (if using) to push the other ingredients through. If you have some greens lying around, feel free to add them, but they’re not necessary for this juice. Garnish with a sprinkle of cayenne and a drizzle of honey. Feel free to sip lying down.
