Juicers – Cleaning and Maintenance

It never fails. You want to drink fresh and healthy juice but when you go to use the juicer to make your favorite wheatgrass blend, you find that someone has forgotten to clean the juicer once again. That means that before you can make a glass of refreshing juice, you have to take the entire machine apart, clean it thoroughly and then put it all back together. By the time you are finished doing all of that, you will probably be less than interested in making any juice at all. It is time to consider what your best course of action is. You can either give that lecture about cleaning the juicer again, or you can choose to find a new juicer. If the latter sounds like the easiest route to take, there are several things you should consider.

Everyone knows that a juicer has to be effective in making juices from a number of different fruits and vegetables so the number one factor should be a powerful motor. From crunching up carrots and other tough foods, to fully juicing everything that is put into it, the juicer’s motor has to run hard and run well.

Another factor to consider for your new juicer choice is the number of parts. Is putting the thing together going to be an absolute nightmare every time you use it? Think of how often you use your juicer or how much you would use it if it were easier to use. The more parts that have to be taken off for cleaning, the more parts that will need to be put back on afterward. Finding a juicer that does not have a million loose parts is a very important factor to consider.

What do other people think about the juicer? Before you make a purchase, you should do research on the various available juicers, reading the reviews from people who bought the same model. A word of caution though: Make sure that you go to third party review sites before reading these reviews because if you only read glowing reviews posted on the juicer’s site, are you really getting the honest information that you need?

Price is a factor that should be considered, too. Setting a budget and sticking to it will prevent you from being mesmerized by accessories and attachments that you really do not need. During your research you will get a good idea of what a reasonable price range might be.

Finally, back to the cleaning of the juicer. Look for an easy-to-clean juicer that does not need to be broken down every time so that maybe the other people in your household will take a stab at cleaning the thing as well. The Omega VRT Vertical Juicer is a good option to consider, easy to clean, powerful, and reasonably priced. You do not have to take the whole thing apart to clean it. You simply run water through the hopper after you have juiced your foods and that’s it.

I’m going to have to look into the Omega Vert. I haven’t heard much about that particular juicer model from them, and not having to take it apart for cleaning sounds intriguing.

    Keep on keeping on!

Two of the most important things to look for in a juicer is if whether or not it can do the job and the ease of cleaning. Way too many people quit juicing just for the headache that they experience with cleaning their juicer, worse when they have to clean it before they can use it :(

Juicy Josh is correct to recommend Omega VRT, but if you are looking to buy a more stylish and sleek juicer as well as for it’s functionality of it, than you might want to look at other ones as well. But if you don’t really care about the looks than certainly Omega is a really good brand built with quality. Does any know what’s the warranty on it?
