Get Back On The Wagon with Prunes

This past weekend was my birthday, and if you know me well, you know that I enjoy rather indulgent birthday festivities. This year was no different. A weekend spent dining on rich food and enjoying even richer wines was wonderful, but it does a number on my body for days afterwards.

We’re talking bloating, sluggishness and even headaches. Some would call this a birthday hangover – but my brain usually hurts too much to call it anything except ouch.

After two days of feeling “off”, I did what I always do- I juiced!

I have waxed poetic about how fresh fruit juices are an excellent way to eliminate toxins from the body, as they contain phyto-nutrients and antioxidants that help to boost immunity and aid in shaking off indulgent birthday weekends. They help to flush toxins and to fortify the body with essential nutrients. And today will be no different.

Prune juice – a proven technique

A juice that has been classified as “old people juice”, prune juice, has the ability to move the toxins through the body and out. Two glasses of prune juice a day helps the elimination process immensely, and no toxin can withstand a prune juice onslaught. In addition to prune juice, celery juice is a proven aid in helping the body to eliminate carbon dioxide in the body.

And the role of berries is immeasurable in detoxifying the body. Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries together are an antioxidant dream team. They help to eliminate free radicals and flush toxins from the body. A juice containing all four of these power berries is the key to any detoxification process.

I intend to undertake a full week of juicing and nothing but salad, and I look forward to feeling like me again. I’m a year older and ready attack twenty-six with even more vigor than I did at twenty-five!
