Easy Ways to Get Glowing Spring Skin

Easy Ways to Get Glowing Spring SkinEven the springiest, prettiest day can be ruined if you don’t feel good about your skin. Yes, it’s superficial, but it’s also part of being human, you know? Thankfully, there are plenty of 100% natural ways to make your skin glow, and if there’s a time for glow, it’s now: with picnics on the horizon, apple blossoms exploding from the trees, tiny bunnies scampering across your yard, and feral cats on the loose (or is that just my neighborhood?).

Here are some easy ways to get that coveted shine.

1. Ease into some skin-friendly yoga.

Exercise gets your blood flowing, which leads to instantly flushed cheeks and a healthier complexion (increased blood flow brings oxygen and other glow-boosting nutrients to your face). Doing a few yoga poses in the morning or before you head out for the night is a simple way to brighten your skin without breaking a sweat. Recommended poses: Downward Dog, Standing Forward Bend, Mountain Pose (good for de-stressing), Bharadvaja’s Twist, and Legs-Up-The-Wall Pose.

2. Slather on a mask in the shower.

Give your facial mask superpowers by applying it in the shower. The warm steam will open up your pores and let the mask do its thing, and by the time you towel off, your skin will look incredible. Just make sure to let the mask sink in for a few minutes first–go ahead and shave your legs, condition your hair, etc. before you rinse it off.

3. Give yourself a quick facial massage.

A gentle DIY facial massage is an easy way to get the blood flowing to your cheeks. Do it in the morning or at night when you’re done washing your face. Apply a few drops of your daily moisturizer or a mild oil to your fingertips, and get massaging. Here’s a super simple 1-minute routine.

4. Spice up a mask with turmeric.

Turmeric, the bright yellow-orange spice found in Indian food, as been used as a skin-brightener for centuries, and is often added to chickpea flour to make a wedding-day mask for Indian brides. Steal that bridal glow by adding a tablespoon of turmeric to your favorite facial mask (oatmeal? egg white? mashed banana? coconut oil?) and let it sit on your face for 20 minutes.

5. Snag a natural-glow product.

I love Tata Harper’s Resurfacing Mask, which promises (and delivers) instant glow. And natural-beauty fanatics rave about RMS Living Luminizer, which uses coconut oil to highlight your best features.
