Coffee Smoothie Recipes

We’re big coffee drinkers in this family. Friends know we carry our stainless steel closeable mugs nearly everywhere we go. We enjoy all kinds of coffee and we love to blend different beans together. One thing that drives me nuts: pouring the last little bit of left over coffee from the pot down the drain.

So instead, I now pour the left over coffee into ice cube trays, and save them for my smoothies. Genius!

Taking coffee recycling a bit further – coffee smoothies!

Coffee in my smoothies is a new favorite of mine. You can mix up your smoothie flavors by using different beans or coffee creamers (just make sure you’re purchasing a coffee creamer with no “partially hydrogenated” belly fat). A smooth breakfast blend is a great every day coffee to use, but feel free to get creative. Other great options are French Vanilla, and I love pecan!

If you’re not sure a coffee smoothie is your speed, you can always purchase an instant coffee individual packet to try it out. These packets are also a fun “boost” too if you like a strong coffee flavor.

Another easy idea is to use Starbucks bottled coffee. They are nice to have around as a backup in case the coffee craving hits and your pot is empty. They also come in different flavors to create unique smoothies.

Banana Coffee Smoothie

  • 1 cup of coffee, chilled (or better yet, frozen from the ice cube tray!)

  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 4 ice cubes

Add all ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Acai Banana Coffee Smoothie

  • ½ cup milk (any variety)
  • 6 oz fat-free vanilla yogurt

I love the cocoa/wine flavor that acaia berry puree brings. It’s the perfect complement to coffee! Add all the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
