BlendTec Kitchen Mill - Grain and Flour Mill (Formerly K-Tec)
- Product Review (submitted on January 13, 2013):
I've used this K-Tec Mill for 3 years. Grinds 8 cups of hard wheat in about five minutes. Yes it's noisy, but I've controlled that with a kitchen towel clothes-pinned over the F-filter exhaust side (NOT the intake side). Keeps the noise down, keeps flour dust at the machine and not all over the room. I do have to lift the towel once in a while when grinding over 8 cups of flour or condensation can form on the side of the grinder. Replacing the old F-filter also helps cut the dust - fits tighter.
It won't give you a "stone-ground" texture to your flour; it's coarsest setting is still pretty fine, but it all bakes up great.
Cleanup is pretty easy with a small veggie-type brush, a damp cloth and dry towel. I've had no issues with the snap tabs cracking on the sides, as some have, and I've been making 2 to 3 loaves of bread a week from rye and both hard & soft wheat, mostly sourdough loaves. This works great for me now, and I expect it to for a long time.
